BLOGQUEST - Course of Action Week 

DAY 3 -Soldiers stories

Task 1 Match the sentences with the pictures.

1. One of the soldiers was bitten on the arm by a mosquito.
2. One of the soldiers woke up in a cold sweat.
3. There were ants crawling all over the place.
4. A snake nearly got into one of the sleeping bags.

Now work in pairs. Tell your partner if you have been in a similar situation.

Task 2 Listen to the story and tick the correct picture.Now listen again and answer the questions.

1. Who is Jack?
2. When did the story take place?
3. What was Jack doing at the time?
4. Was he hurt?
5. What happened at the end?

Task 3 Study the examples.

Introducing a story: Have I ever told you about the time I got ants in my trousers?
Encouraging the story-teller to continue: What happened?
Commenting on a story: Wow! That was stupid.

Now put the sentences into groups

2. You’ll never guess what happened to me the other day.
3. Oh, no. I can’t belive it.
4. No, but I bet it’s funny. So, come on, tell me.
5. I bet you can’t guess what happend to us last night.
6. Oh, really?
7. Uh huh. And then what?
8. That reminds me of when I arrived here. I was like that, too.
9. I’ll never forget the first time I met Jack.
10. Oh, I bet you didn’t say that really.


Task 6 Study the examples.

introduction: You'll never guess what happened to...
background: One night, when we were out on patrol...
event: Suddenly, Jack woke up.
outcome: He hit it really hard, thinking it was a poisonous snake.
comment: Good old Jack.
 
Now plan a story and tell it to  a student from another pair.
